SHOW ME YOUR DECK

Real Backyard Builds. No Fluff.

Numerous builds. Every mistake made. Every lesson documented.

No theory. Just real-world backyard construction.

Why This Site Exists

This started as one simple deck project.
It turned into a hands-on education in framing, structure, and backyard building.

Every project here shows the real process — the mistakes, the fixes, and what actually works.

How the Builds Progressed

Every project here builds on the last.

What started as a simple front porch deck turned into a hands-on education in framing, structure, and backyard construction.

Each build improved on the previous one — better planning, stronger framing, cleaner execution, and new ideas.

First Deck

A front porch deck built from scratch. Plenty of mistakes, uneven cuts, and lessons learned the hard way.

Better Builds

With each project the framing improved, layouts got smarter, and builds started coming together cleaner.

Backyard Projects

Decks turned into full backyard upgrades — bridges, walkways, fire pits, and custom cedar projects.

Step-by-step deck builds and rustic wood projects–documented from real-world construction.

Every build started with zero experience and a lot of trial and error.

Featured Builds

This isn’t a highlight reel — it’s a progression. Each build marks a step forward: better planning, cleaner cuts, stronger structure, and lessons learned the hard way. What started as one deck turned into a hands-on education in building.

The Build Progression

Each project improved on the last — better planning, stronger structure, and cleaner execution.

Front Deck Porch – First deck, First Mistakes

My first attempt at a front porch deck — built from scratch, learned the hard way. Uneven cuts, real lessons, and the start of figuring this out.

Back Deck with Stairs

Took the lessons from Build #1 and stepped it up — a covered, screened back patio with proper framing, cleaner lines, and smarter planning.

Bottom Deck – Sturdy is as Sturdy does

Focused on structure and durability. A solid 16×20 build, cleaner execution, better finishing, and finally starting to feel confident.

Pool Deck with Top Bar

Designed for function and fun. Elevated pool access with integrated stairs and a built-in bar top for long summer days.

Fire Pit with Stone Walkway

Expanded beyond lumber. A full backyard upgrade with stonework, landscaping, and a fire pit built to gather around

Cedar Post Gates

Reclaimed cedar turned into custom entry gates. A smaller project, but a step toward craftsmanship and detail work.

About Me….

I am just a small-town country man living and learning about life as it comes. I started building these decks for family use and have recently decided to document the process to hopefully help someone else along the way. This is for anyone who wants to save a buck over hiring a contractor.
