The Build Progression
Each project improved on the last — better planning, stronger structure, and cleaner execution.
Front Deck Porch – First deck, First Mistakes
My first attempt at a front porch deck — built from scratch, learned the hard way. Uneven cuts, real lessons, and the start of figuring this out.

Back Deck with Stairs
Took the lessons from Build #1 and stepped it up — a covered, screened back patio with proper framing, cleaner lines, and smarter planning.

Bottom Deck – Sturdy is as Sturdy does
Focused on structure and durability. A solid 16×20 build, cleaner execution, better finishing, and finally starting to feel confident.

Pool Deck with Top Bar
Designed for function and fun. Elevated pool access with integrated stairs and a built-in bar top for long summer days.

Fire Pit with Stone Walkway
Expanded beyond lumber. A full backyard upgrade with stonework, landscaping, and a fire pit built to gather around

Cedar Post Gates
Reclaimed cedar turned into custom entry gates. A smaller project, but a step toward craftsmanship and detail work.

About Me….
I am just a small-town country man living and learning about life as it comes. I started building these decks for family use and have recently decided to document the process to hopefully help someone else along the way. This is for anyone who wants to save a buck over hiring a contractor.
